Written by Lauren M. Rielly

Sheila’s Story:

Singaporean born, migrated to Oz in 1977 and lived in Adelaide which I still love. Primary schools were in St Mary Magdalenes and St Dominic’s Priory College then went to Norwood High. Completed a Bachelor of Science degree with Honours and then completed a degree in Physiotherapy.

Worked as a Physio till 2011 then had thoughts to start a biz in 2002-2009 when Hubby lost his job.  Started biz online in Oct 2009 then went Home based then bought a small factory/warehouse/showroom in 2011.

Won Industry award May 8th 2011 and next week 2 more awards at our Annual Conference. No photo as too camera shy.

Q1:  What gives you an involuntary smile when you think about it?

Creating my own articles, getting ranked higher on Google and attempting to figure out their algorithms! cos all SEO friends tell you something different.

Q2:  What has had the most significant impact on you?

My daughters diagnosis which has strengthened me and give us a different approach to life.

Q3:  Which place have you been to that has changed how you see the world?

India, my Aunts town of Varanasi/Benares in Uttar Pradesh province.

Q4:  What’s a question you cannot answer?

My toastmaster mates tell me my humour is in me ” just let it out” …..how? is what I want to know.

Q5:  What irritates you the most?

Slothfulness and employees who just DO not listen despite repeated telling of what to do.

Q6:  How has your definition of success evolved?

” Winners do what Losers don’t”.

Q7:  Who have you learned the most from?

My book and real live mentors…. last year I did WIB (Women in biz) mentorship program subsidised by Industry and Investment and Sandra McGee property manager of 1,500 properties has taught me heaps about biz and how to manage our properties.

Books such as Think and Grow rich, my husband as he knows this industry being in it 32 yrs and my kids who tell me what I do wrong all the time!

Q8:  When you see an aspiring entrepreneur that reminds you of yourself, what are they like?

120% energy, enthusiasm, passion and one who reads and has mentors. They have many battle scars from their battles and are creative. Love the Apprentice show with Mark Bouris. These entrepreneurs use their staffs strengths.

Q9:  If you had one learning to impart to the world, what would it be?

Carpus Diem.

Q10:  What does it take for you to say ‘yes’?

Not a lot of persuasion ……as if the decision was bad then “fail faster” as one man took 1,000 failures to make the right bulb work! There is no such thing as failure it’s only feedback.
